Safety first! I can remember my father saying that, my shop class teachers urging me to “be careful,” and every time I look up from my computer screen and people are suing each other, it just screams “be safe or be sorry.”
There are a number of reasons electronic cigarettes are “safer” than tobacco products. Some are quite obvious, others are less obvious. I think safety with e-cigarettes is something people are starting to really see as a secondary reason to start using them. Having younger siblings in my household growing up, I saw many reasons to keep any chance of setting things on a fire to a bare minimum. So, when you think of e-cigarette safety, the obvious stands out – there are no lighters necessary and there is no need to have fire of any sort involved in the smoking process. Think about how many times people set fires, and how many injuries occur and lives are affected by fires. It’s an incredible statistic that I felt compelled to look up. The number of fires by matches & lighters annually: 144,000
Number of people KILLED by matches, lighter fires: 321
Injured people in these same fires: 1,877
Total value of property loss (this one is huge): $470 MILLION. That’s an ANNUAL number.
Fires started out of this number between juveniles ages 10-17: 37%.
Wow. Those facts about fires started by matches & lighters are enough for me to never want to have any of them in my house! There are many more reasons to smoke electronic cigarettes, but if you have small children or share a household with someone who does, just think about those figures for a moment. They really are shocking and when you let them sink in, just think of the liability (there goes my legal brain again) obligations that surface. Yikes!
I’m not going to make health claims in regards to e-cigarettes being “safer” – although I have a strong feeling that they are safer, health claims have not been substantiated yet and e-cigarette brands shy away from saying that, so I will too. Today I just wanted to share those alarming stats with you about the aspect of fires caused by matches and lighters. When you smoke a cigarette, obviously you need to have some sort of fire starting those up, so a lighter or match is necessary.

Blu Cigs Review

Anyone who has searched high and low for vapor cigarettes certainly knows about Blu Cigs brand. Perhaps the most well-marketed and established player on the circuit, Blu Cigs has been around the US market longer than any other electronic cigarette brand. Establishing their brand early brought huge rewards for the founder of Blu Cigs, Jason Healy, who sold the company to Lorillard, (maker’s of Newport cigarettes) in April of 2012 for $135 Million. This was the first time a Big Tobacco company invested in electronic cigarette smoking, but it certainly won’t be the last.
Blu Cigs reviews online are quite mixed. There is no question that Blu Cigs markets the brand to a hip, urban crowd. A quick look at their website depicts people lighting up the blue-LED tipped e-cigarettes in clubs. The Blu Cigs brand is all about fun and being social, which led them to release what is perhaps the coolest gadget in electronic cigarette smoking – the Social Pack by Blu Cigs is sold as their Premium Starter Kit, and how it functions is one of the most impressive things about this brand.
The Premium pack has “Social Features.” What this means to you is that if you are out and about, your Blu Cigs pack becomes your beeper, so to speak. Creating social awareness, the Blu pack will alert you with a vibration when you are in the vicinity of another Blu Cigs user! You can turn this feature off, of course – but why would you? You may be in need of another Blu Cigs refill cartridge or you may just want to say hello to someone else smoking BluCigs in public. Some people may not be as social and won’t share that opinion, but it’s clearly a gadget that separated Blu Cigs at least on the innovation level for much of last year.
We stated that Blu Cigs reviews online are mixed, and we stand by that fact. What we call a type 4 smoker isn’t really a fan of Blu Cigs. The quality of the smoking experience isn’t quite on par with some of the higher rated e-cigarette brands. Sure, they clearly go after the social smoker and do make e-smoking cool (their branding and marketing is genius) – but that won’t bring on the Cowboy type, the diehards who just want to smoke a heater because they like a rich tobacco taste in a product that looks original.

Blu Cigs may be for you if you are into gadgets, want to accessorize with the trendy brands, or if you are a smoker of any flavor other than tobacco. It’s only fitting that South Beach would be a brand name of an electronic cigarette, the most incredible devices of our lifetimes. The brand South Beach Smoke was one of the earlier players in the e-cigarette scene, and they have certainly kept up with the changing landscape. Perhaps what is most impressive about South Beach Smoke brand is their marketing – the P.R. this company kicks out is incredible. It seems like all the celebrities are flocking to South Beach Smoke, and why not? It’s one of the top brands of electronic cigarettes.

Today’s Horror Story: How Many People Could Have Avoided Tobacco Related Deaths?

The facts are frightening: smoking kills.
Over the course of history, millions and millions of people have died because of tobacco related diseases and conditions. In fact, every year approximately 5 million people die because of tobacco products. There is no safe or healthier way to consume tobacco products. Smoking, chewing, and using snuff are all ways to live a shorter life, and most likely to contract a disease that disfigures your face, makes it hard to breathe, or causes you pain every single day. The statistics on how smoking kills you are bleak, but it is worth learning about them if it will help you or someone you love to quit.
The Numbers
The worldwide statistics on how smoking kills people are incredible. If 5 million people could have prevented their own deaths every year for the past few years, the population of the planet would be very different. But even just in the United States the numbers are incredible. Almost half a million people die from cigarette related diseases and conditions every year. The saddest part is that just under 50,000 of those deaths are non-smokers who die of heart disease or lung cancer due to second hand smoke. (Ahem – let’s get in a plug for vapor cigarettes NOW.) Of all the statistics on how smoking kills you, the second hand smoke statistics are the most tragic.
Think of all the innocent people affected by second hand smoke. Children. Innocent bystanders. Elderly citizens who need 24 hour care only to be cared for by people with zero regard for their health and subsequently smoke around them. #disgusting!!
What are the Effects of Quitting Now
What many people don’t realize is that it is never too late to quit. You may extend your life even if you quit after the age of 60. If you quit when you are around 50 years of age, you reduce the risk of dying early of a smoking-related disease by 50%. And if you quit by the age of 30%, that statistic jumps to a 90% likelihood that you’ll avoid tobacco-related diseases and an early death.
But so many people find it impossible to quit. Some people say that the statistics on how smoking kills you don’t help at all. Others say they’d prefer to enjoy life and die young then live a boring or overly safe life. The truth is that smokers don’t get to enjoy life the way non-smokers do because of all the medical problems they encounter, even the ones that don’t kill you.
If you quit smoking today, your blood pressure would drop within a few hours, the level of carbon monoxide in your blood would be reduced within a few hours, and your heart rate would slow and normalize. Within the next few weeks, you’d begin to smell and taste things better as your senses returned. Your circulation would improve and your skin would become healthier as a result. You’d cough and spit up phlegm less often.
And within a few months you’d have lung function back and you would be able to enjoy physical activity without pain in your lungs.
How to Quit
The latest techniques for quitting smoking focus on the ways that smokers get used to their habit. Things like electronic cigarettes can be a cheaper way to get that nicotine hit, without the smoke. There are cheaper starter kits out there, but not of the same quality. Bull Smoke’s batteries and cartridges are as good as any on the market. When you consider that Bull Smoke offers rewards points offering 10% cash back towards future purposes, you could make the argument that this should be rated a perfect 10.
- Vapor Thickness & Battery Life: 10 out of 10.
We couldn’t find anything to complain about in this category. Bull Smoke’s batteries create a ton of vapor and the batteries hold their charge longer than any on the market. They have a 4.2 volt battery, tops on the market.
- Customer Service: 10 out of 10.
We made several inquiries asking questions about Bull Smoke. We used live chat, the toll free number (1-855-Get-Bull), and even sent some emails. All queries were replied to within hours, even on a Sunday. The staff was knowledgeable and was able to provide us with proper answers to all questions we sent in. It’s always good dealing with a first class company and reputable people.
